Short bio:
Simone Bonannini is currently Marketing and Commercial Director at Open Fiber since June 2018.
He graduated in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Pisa. He began his career in Telecom Italia, at the Guglielmo Reiss Romoli High School, where he worked in particular on "high data transmission over copper pair" to then move onto the R&D of Marconi SpA, in the development team of the ATM transmission system.
In 1998 Bonannini returned to Telecom, as Network Development Engineer at the headquarters of Telecom Italia Mobile, where he dealt with issues related to interconnection.
With the liberalization of the telecommunications market he participated at the start-up of Nodalis SpA, where he played the role of Technical Director. In this period he also worked as an evaluator for the European Community as part of the "e-ten" project.
In 2004 he joined Interoute SpA as a Wholesale Director, also taking care of Business Development and Regulatory Affairs and in 2010 he became the Chief Executive Officer. In these years he was involved in the development of the Italian and Mediterranean markets, bringing the Italian entity to a growth of over 40% of turnover in 2014. Since the end of 2016 his area of commercial responsibility has been extended and Bonannini was appointed VP Southern Europe, CEE and MEA.
Over the past few years he has contributed, by participating in the working groups, to the debate on ultra-broadband networks in Italy.
